Westfield Supplies and Installs EGFM and BCR at Egbaoma-OB3 Gas Pipeline Project

Westfield emerged as the preferred contractor to carry out the Supply and Installation of Electronic Gas Flow Meters and Barton Chart Recorders (EGFM and BCR) as Check Meters (Remote Monitoring) on the Egbaoma-OB3 Gas Pipeline Project. 

A technical kick-off meeting for the project was held at Platform Petroleum Limited’s (PPL) conference room on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

In his remarks at the meeting, PPL’s Project Manager, Engr. Nojeem Onifade said they were highly impressed with Westfield’s proposal and schedule presented during the bidding stage which showed the demonstratable capacity to deliver on the project. He expressed his satisfaction that Westfield was the preferred contractor and reiterated the importance of safety, quality and cost considerations in the execution of the project. 

The Chief Operating Officer of Westfield Mr. Michel Messina thanked PPL for the opportunity given to Westfield to handle the project and reassured all stakeholders of Westfield’s commitment to successful project execution and completion.

The project intends to provide remote access to accurate information regarding the volume, temperature, pressure and other parameters of the gas from the base office. 

Summary of the scope of work includes the following:

  • Engineering Design
  • Supply and Installation 2Nos. Electronic Gas flow Meters (EGFM) with remote viewing option and self-powered
  • Supply and Installation of 2Nos. Barton Chart Recorders (BCR)
  • Installation and commissioning.
  • Modification of the civil foundation at the worksite

After the Engineering Design and Procurement phases of the project, we proceeded to the final phase which was the installation and commissioning of the Check Meter and other accompanying equipment at the Platform facility at IPS Umukwata, Delta State, Nigeria. 

At the completion of the project which lasted 6 months, it was handed over to PPL with the accompanying As-Built drawings and closeout report.
